Svetlana Fomina
Svetlana Fomina was born in Irkutsk, Siberia. She has an amazing biography: Svetlana graduated from the famous architecture school (Moscow Architectural Institute) and worked as a professional artist and art teacher. Ten years ago, she developed a passion for fiber art. She designs and produces unique accessories in her studio in Moscow and teaches a lot.
Svetlana enjoys developing new ideas and novel approaches to materials and techniques. Her favorite method is "painting with wool". She makes wall hangings, shawls, bags, etc. Her strong point is creating beautiful, almost photo quality images using different fibers. Svetlana loves felting, it is an amazing technique which allows her to realize all her artistic ideas. Svetlana uses different methods like "felted gobelin", "art felting with stencil" and "water-color with fibers".
What's important for her methods? First, it is a realistic image with lights and shadows. Second, nicely balanced composition and color harmony. Third, patience and an assortment of fibers. Svetlana's working process is very similar to painting.

She needs to keep the image beautiful during felting and fulling. It is not so easy as one can think: if too much fluff from the wool will come to the surface or the shrinkage is too strong, the "photo quality" will be lost. That's why Svetlana uses a combination of special felting and fulling techniques. She generously shares all her secrets with her online and offline students.
